Our History

St. John's Citadel, the largest Corps in Canada, is the spiritual home of about 600 families. We have been officially serving in Newfoundland since 1886. Our Corps community is proud of its heritage, and we celebrate the faith of the Salvationists who devoted their lives to ministry and service here in St. John’s.

Our Beliefs

The Salvation Army, through St. John's Citadel and worldwide, exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs, and be a transforming influence in the communities of the world. We follow eleven core doctrines of faith which form the basis for all our other activities and beliefs. You can read a full list of our doctrines at salvationist.ca/about/doctrines.
